What it is for

A jump starter is bought for the morning it is needed, which is why the two numbers that matter are the cranking current and whether the pack still holds charge after six months in a van. These use lithium cells with a low self-discharge and a boost button that will start a completely flat battery without a donor vehicle.

The combined variant adds an air compressor, so one box covers a flat battery and a soft tyre — the two things that actually stop a vehicle leaving a yard. Store a pack above freezing and recharge it every few months; a lithium pack left flat for a season is the one failure this product has.
