ProFix Live-Data Code Reader

What it is for

An OBD2 reader answers a different question at each level. A basic unit reads and clears emissions fault codes, which is enough to see why the engine light is on before spending time on a ramp. A live-data reader shows what the sensors are actually reporting while the engine runs, which is where an intermittent fault becomes visible.

The multi-system units read the modules a generic reader cannot reach — ABS, airbag, transmission and body — and the bidirectional models can command a component such as a cooling fan or an ABS pump to prove it works. Buy by the systems you actually diagnose; an unused subscription is not value.

Specification detail

Reads OBD2 and EOBD protocols over a standard 16-pin connector, with a colour display, a built-in fault library and a USB update port. Supplied with a carry case and a quick-start guide; updates are installed from a computer, and the functions listed need no subscription.

Buying more than one
