What it is for

A plier set fails in one of two ways: the joint develops play and the jaws no longer meet, or the cutting edge chips on something harder than it was meant for. Both come from the joint rather than the jaws, which is why these use a forged rivet joint rather than a pressed pin.

The set covers the four jobs that actually come up — gripping, cutting, stripping and bending — rather than four versions of the same plier. The insulation is rated for live working at low voltage, which is a safety margin rather than an instruction to work on live circuits.
