ProFix Wheel Brush, Long-Handle, 45 cm Reach

What it is for

Brake dust is ferrous, abrasive and bonded to the wheel by heat — the reason a wheel comes clean with a brush and stays grey with a sponge. Both the bristle and the reach matter: a long handle gets to the back of the rim without your knuckles going in first, and a filament stiff enough to lift the dust will not mark a lacquered face if it is worked wet, with the cleaner already on the surface.

This variant is the Long-Handle, 45 cm Reach. Bristles are nylon, set into a body of polypropylene with a crimped ferrule; overall length 45 cm. Soft and stiff are sold as separate brushes on purpose — one brush doing both jobs either scratches a diamond-cut face or leaves the inner barrel dirty.

• Long reach for the inner barrel — your knuckles stay out of the rim
