What it is for

The materials that finish a wiring job: automotive cable in the standard five colours, blade fuses in the ratings a vehicle actually uses, and split conduit to protect a run inside a panel. None of it is expensive, and all of it is what turns a temporary repair into a permanent one.

Cable is sold by the cross-section — 0.75 mm² for signals and lighting, 1.5 mm² for most switched circuits, 2.5 mm² and above for feeds — and the colours follow the usual convention so the next person can read the loom. Buy fuses in a mixed set rather than singles; the one you need is never the one in the drawer.
