What it is for

A balance weight costs a few cents and decides whether the customer comes back: an unbalanced wheel shows as a vibration between 80 and 120 km/h, which is exactly the speed the owner drives at every day. A box of assorted weights in the bay means the job is finished now, not when the van next passes the factor.

Choose the type by the rim, not by the price. Coated zinc weights clip or stick to an alloy rim without setting up corrosion at the contact point, and the self-adhesive strips are for the inner face where a clip cannot go. Clean the surface and press them on warm — a weight that comes off in a car wash is a comeback.
